Porsche began producing this line of high-performance models with the 1973 911 Carrera RS. The GT3 has had a successful racing career and was introduced in 1999 as part of the first generation of the Porsche 996 model range as a homologation model for the cars entered in the FIA GT3 cup.
The 996 GT3 was focused on racing, and so had no extras which would add unnecessary weight to the car. For example, sound deadening was almost completely removed; rear seats, rear loudspeakers, sunroof, and air conditioning were also removed, although automatic air conditioning and sound became no-cost options.
The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 for sale gets to 100kmph in 3.4 seconds. With the manual gearbox option, it takes 3.9 seconds. The GT3 is only marginally faster than the 911 GTS and the 911 Turbo S is a full second faster 0-100. So why is the GT3 such a desired car? According to those who own one, it's the exhilarating drive.
The GT3 and GT3 RS are best known for their handling. They are fast, loud, firm, precise and with virtually no body roll. A sublime driving experience that could only be improved by… the Touring Package of course!
Porsche brought back the manual gearbox with the GT3 Touring Package. The 911 GT3 with Touring Package is the IDEAL Porsche for a terrain full of challenging bends.
